“The photos are just beautiful and you really captured the laid back feel of the day. We cannot wait to share them with our family and friends…We loved every moment of our wedding and have greatly enjoyed looking through the photos. I cried at how beautiful they are so I guess that says it all!”

Gate Street Barn Wedding

Well this was a delight! Revisiting weddings I simply never had time to blog, it has been a total joy to look over Bex and Alex’s Gate Street Barn wedding once more. It was back in the Summer of 2018, and it was a special weekend for me, since I got engaged the very next day! But that’s not the reason this wedding stands out for me. Instead, it was one where I met two absolutely lovely people and their families. Speaking with Bex’s Dad about Leica cameras during the booking process certainly had me a little anxious, I was being judged by a semi-pro! (I still don’t own a Leica, which makes me very sad indeed!)

Beginning the day at the pub across the road from their church, Holy Trinity in Bramley, was an unusual but super fun place to start. Lots of excitement and happy faces and a side of a wedding day I don’t usually get to witness. Thankfully everyone kept the drinking to sensible levels, and soon arrived Bex in THE most wonderful car, Primrose. This stunning Rolls R0yce was the very car David Jason drove in The Darling Buds of May – just a bit cool eh?!

The ceremony was upbeat and beautiful, sadly I was not able to photograph from the front but it needn’t have mattered, there was plenty more to capture at the wonderful Gate Street Barn later. After a sun-filled confetti launch, everyone headed round the corner to the Barns. Looking over the photos something became clear to me, I have REALLY missed getting closer to people since Covid hit. I don’t like to be too ‘in your face’ but getting those moments really helps when you can get that bit nearer. I was spoilt for choice during the reception, all their guests were having a fab time and I think it’s clear to see! Of course like any Gate Street Barn wedding, it looked glorious but let’s not forget to mention one of my favourite (and recommended) florists, Gill Pike, for her incredible work!

Onto speeches, a great mix of heartfelt and hilarious, all three were wonderful, especially the Best Man’s, Omar, who was equally as close to Bex as he is to Alex, which was lovely to see. They were absolutely ready to party but not before I dragged Bex and Alex off for a little walk to capture the last of the August sunshine. I really love having that extra couple session in the evening of a wedding, totally worth doing whatever season, before the madness of the dance-floor kicks in!

If you’re still here reading – well done, I can’t half waffle on! But I hope you have enjoyed this little story, of two super lovely and made-for-one-another people. I was lucky enough to capture them once more last Summer with their beautiful daughter, it was so great to catch up and reminisce!
