Every now and again, I get an enquiry that I find it pretty hard to hide my excitement from, and this wedding was one of them! The truly lovely Janice and Mike, held their wedding at the amazing Brooklands Museum in Weybridge, Surrey. Not only have I lived close to this particular venue for years, I have special memories of my Grandfather telling me how he used to ride round the track on his trusty Triumph motorbike, many moons ago!
I knew after speaking with Janice that I was in for a treat, but could not believe my ears when she told me their ceremony was to take place aboard the actual Concorde stationed in the grounds. Yes, that’s right, I photographed a wedding IN A CONCORDE. That particular day it was just a little warmer than we’d all have liked, and I can tell you being cramped in a corner of an aircraft in what felt like 40 degree heat, was up there with one of my most bizarre but fun moments as a photographer ever! It was so, so worth it though, watching Janice walk down the aisle to a grinning Mike was just amazing. Did I mention Janice is an air stewardess for BA? It couldn’t have been more apt, and I loved that about these two, everything was just so them. I have been dying to share this wedding for months, and I am so excited to post some of my favourite images from their special day back in July.
Janice was pretty much the coolest bride I’ve ever had, I mean, check out her style! Her lovely son Adam gave the most heartfelt speech during the wedding breakfast, including writing and performing a song for her on the guitar. Embarrassingly enough, many of Janice and Mike’s guests came up to me afterwards saying how sweet it was that I cried at that moment…(There was me, thinking I could hide behind my camera, no such luck!). Both Janice and Mike have beautiful daughters, who were the fabulous bridesmaids and wore their gorgeous yellow dresses with pride as they witness their parents get married. I was treated like a queen at this wedding, and I felt as though I left having made friends with everyone there. I had such a blast shooting it, and Mike even performed as part of his 10 man soul band during the party. Amazing fun to witness, and truly an experience I’ll never forget! Before I ramble on any further, go on, have a nosey, it’s a good one! I’d love to shoot at Brooklands again, so if you’re looking for a wedding photographer who loves capturing all the fun and frills, let me know!! I would love to hear from you :) xxx
