Autumnal Barn Wedding
I couldn’t resist blogging this beautiful Autumnal barn wedding even though I haven’t even finished editing it yet! Sara and Marc were finally married on what was a day of all weathers. We saw the sun creep out once or twice, we were promised clouds, we were given spitting rain showers (the annoying kind), however the day came to a close with a beautiful sunset which I am so glad we caught.
It was a year later than originally planned, but it was truly wonderful. Sara and her team had a fun and chilled morning getting ready in a local B&B near to their reception venue, The Long Barn in Alton. This was my second wedding here, and very sadly it looks like it will be the last, as this wedding was the venue’s final one before it closed. Covid has a lot to answer for, and losing beautiful gems such as this as a result is pretty hard to accept. With this in mind, we were determined to make it a special one and it absolutely was!
We travelled a little way to the most beautiful church, St John The Evangelist in Northington for the ceremony. Wow, what a stunning building. It had that incredibly special feel about it, and the most stunning light inside. If anyone knows me and my work, I am a total sucker for painterly light. One day I will try and capture a whole wedding whereby each image looks like a classic Renaissance painting. I am sure there is one couple out there who’d want that?! :) Anyway…it meant I had plenty of gorgeous pockets of light to find and hopefully create some beautiful timeless images. Marc & Sara’s guests were just the loveliest, and a long enthusiastic line of confetti greeted the newlyweds as we exited.
The couple headed off to The Long Barn in a beautiful classic Rolls, as the rest of us travelled ahead to make the most of the garden games before the rain began. Thankfully it was never a downpour and certainly didn’t dampen any spirits. A major highlight of the day was when Mabel, the couples Airedale Terrier joined us for a few photos…cue one very happy photographer – and oh my word the flower collar that was made specially was just too much!
After a lovely reception came the wonderful meal and some brilliant speeches by Sara’s lovely Dad, Jimmy, Marc’s brother and Best Man, Phil (or Philip when their Mum is around :)) and of course the man himself, Marc. I absolutely LOVE shooting speeches, there are so many wonderful emotions and moments and I really struggle not to post 100 when I blog weddings. There are so many lovely moments to come Sara & Marc but I do hope you love these few previews for now. Thank you for trusting me, and also well done for nailing a brilliant first dance! I can’t wait to edit the full set but here are some personal favourites from the day…x
