Sofia & Rob – Loseley Park

“A huge thanks for sending these through. We just got to Italy and we enjoyed looking over them – what an amazing day! We can’t wait to see the rest!”

Loseley Park Wedding

Ok, so for a late July weekend, we were absolutely not hoping for the deluge that ensued…rain is never the best fun on a wedding day, and it certainly wasn’t what Sofia & Robert had planned for. Despite this, it was still one of my favourite ever Loseley weddings, and that’s down to the two people in the centre. Planning a Summer wedding in this country always has its risks, and we know that it ‘could’ rain, but we don’t expect it to be so unrelenting. My heart was hurting because I know Sofia had planned the day so meticulously and to lose out on images you’d conjured in your mind can be disheartening, yet still they took it in their stride. The light was still beautiful, and some of the photos of Sofia arriving at the church will be favourites for a long time to come.

We started the day in the stunning Bridal room at Loseley Park, where Sofia had the best girls around her getting ready, and her sister helping to get her stunning dress on. At one stage I remarked how Sofia looked like an elegant ballerina, and to no real surprise she announced she was one, once! I knew Robert was going to be blown away! It was lovely to be greeted at the church by an usher I recognised, the best man from the wonderful Laura & Arwyn‘s wedding a few years ago, who were also guests in attendance. It’s one of the great delights of this job, catching up with previous couples, we even had a giggle about the fact it also poured on their wedding day, yet it mattered not, as it was still beautiful. The ceremony at St Nicholas’ Church in Compton was simply lovely. So romantic, and full of the best of hymns! (I love church weddings for this reason alone). As always, confetti in the rain is still a fabulous shot to capture, so don’t ever convince yourself to just head straight to the car!

From here we headed to the stunning gardens at Loseley Park.  With year round interest, we made the most of grounds by capturing some portraits on the way to meet their guests, who were serenaded by String Infusion who played in the white garden. Drinks were flowing and everyone had a brilliant time. The rest of their day served up some absolutely hilarious speeches, Sofia’s Dad the most notable, but also some truly joyous and tearful moments from Robert too. Sadly the clouds didn’t allow for the golden hour we so craved but I begged the couple to go outdoors anyway for some quiet time and I’m so glad we did. I said my goodbyes after an amazing first dance and some great party moves. It was and will remain a truly special wedding, because of the utterly lovely people I got to witness getting married. Thanks must also go to Catherine Luther, who was my videographer sidekick who was a great support during lots of quickly made decisions. I highly recommend checking her out if you are looking for someone incredibly lovely with super laid back style. Enough waffle from me, as usual, here are the previews from Sofia & Robert’s day, I hope you enjoy!

Yueqi & Nic – Nonsuch Mansion

“We wanted to message to say how grateful we are for the incredible job you did capturing our wedding day – they already look absolutely stunning! You are so, so talented. We feel so lucky to have had you as our photographer. In addition to your exceptional work, we also appreciated how well you looked after us on the day. Your care and attention made us feel at ease, and we were able to relax and enjoy the moment knowing that we were in good hands. Once again, thank you for everything. We know we will cherish these photos for years to come and will not hesitate to recommend you to others.”

Nonsuch Mansion Winter Wedding

Oh what a joy it was to be back at the beautiful Nonsuch and to be there on such a glorious Winter’s day. You never know with December or ‘off season’ weddings (what does that even mean? Weddings are all year round affairs these days, and rightly so) whether the weather will be on your side. Thankfully Nonsuch Mansion is one of the rare gems of a venue that looks amazing in low light, as it has such big windows and tall ceilings. If you’re still browsing venues and you’re looking at wintertime, you really must have a look at it!

Anyway, I digress, this wedding was all about the absolutely lovely Yueqi and Nicolas, who I had the pleasure of meeting earlier on in the year at another lovely couple’s wedding. They kindly recommended me and the rest is history! The whole day was held at the beautiful house so it made it very easy to capture some shots of both of them before the ceremony. It was hard to move without the stunning displays of flowers adorning just about every surface, done by none other than Mad Lillies, who are just up the road. I LOVED the colour scheme, simply perfect for any time of year, but the dark velvet tones complimented the time of year beautifully.

A lovely, smiley ceremony was filled with laughter and some brilliant readings, during which I kept glancing out the window praying the winter light that was peeping round the house would stay. And it did! Perfect confetti in the sunshine followed by a quick walk around the gardens and we were back to join the guests for the rest of the reception.

A stunning meal was followed by just the loveliest, heartfelt speeches. It was also really lovely to hear a touching Best Man speech, rather than a typical roasting! Although that said, Yueqi’s friends didn’t leave much out in their homage to her! :) Brutal but very funny indeed!

Their first dance was performed by the brilliant band, and the dance-moves were amazing. All in all, a totally perfect wedding day to capture and be a part of. I won’t forget these two in a hurry, and I am SO glad I chose to accept another December wedding despite always telling myself I’m allowed a month off! Have a nose at some of my favourites from their day.

Ellen & George – Busbridge Lakes

“Thanks so much for these, these are really really great and you have managed to capture so many great moments! We absolutely love these as these are exactly what we had hoped for when choosing you as our photographer! Thanks again for being so wonderful!”

Busbridge Lakes Wedding

What a treat this wedding was! Quite honestly it was the dream, from start to finish with these two. I had never worked at Busbridge before, despite shooting quite a few lakes around the Surrey Hills area (always such a stunning spot for a wedding, if you don’t mind a bit of goose poo!) and it honestly look my breath away! It’s totally idyllic, and with Ellen and George’s decision for an outdoor ceremony surrounded by flowers by one of my favourites, Jessica Eliza, it couldn’t have been more beautiful.
The start of the day took me to a place I stayed after my own wedding, Broadway Barn, and it was lovely to be back but this time for prep! Ellen’s absolutely stunning dress was Phillipa Lepley and her overall look was just incredible. Obviously Ellen is a real beauty but her make up & hair done by the talented Rose Gosling finished off the look to perfection. We all headed to Busbridge where George was waiting for us, looking dapper in Moss Bross. I also had the privilege of meeting and working with videographer Todd Clarke and his assistant, who were totally chilled and blended in so nicely with my own relaxed approach.
The weather was just glorious, not too hot, just what I love, and it meant they had full use of the amazing grounds, so after the group shots by the walled garden (my favourite backdrop for groups!) Ellen, George and I took a wander around the Lakes’ grounds. It really is a treasure trove of a venue, so unusual but also has such a great space for a marquee. The flowers were probably my favourite of the whole of the season, such bright and fun colours – in my opinion you can never have enough colour!
The day was rounded off by a lovely meal by The Kitchen, and of course, the speeches. SO much emotion, mainly the laughing kind but with a few happy tears too. I will never ever tire of capturing speeches, I just love finding moments in between the tables, and faces I’d not spotted during the reception. Ellen & George had a fabulous first dance and I departed just after sunset. It was basically the most beautiful, perfect day, and I loved working with the pair of them so much. Just such gentle, and loving people, who completely adore one another. More please! As always, thanks for reading, and enjoy a few of my favourites from their brilliant day in August.
