My Favourites – 2019 Wedding Photography

My favourite 2019 moments…

Oh this post. Ever the hardest of the year to write, compile, curate. I’m torn between choosing the ‘best’ of my work, or the ‘most liked on Instagram’, and what really makes my smile broaden. I have chosen to share my favourite 2019 moments. One thing’s for sure, it’s the most wonderful trip down memory lane for me. I absolutely LOVE poring through the photos from a previous season. So many faces bringing little jolts of happiness that make me stop and appreciate how wonderful this job is. I’m sure I say the same each year, but it is true, and the day that it is not, is the day I shall retire.

So 2019! A busy year indeed, 28 fabulous weddings, 25 family shoots (8 of which were in August, nearly finishing me off I can tell you!), and a brilliant year for me personally too. We got to grips on our home which we’d bought the October before, ‘properly’ kitted out our garden and watched it grow, travelled to New York and back to Italy (my home from home) and of course, got married. I wouldn’t advise another wedding photographer to get married a week after a wedding, nor a week before a double header, but I did, and thankfully survived due to having such wonderful couples to photograph.

It genuinely flew by, last year. I can already feel myself slipping into Spring and another busy season awaiting me. Time goes so flipping quickly, I must learn to stay in the present a little more! One thing that is so enjoyable about looking through these images, is the feeling of being brought back to the moment as though it was yesterday. Some of the couples below are stumbling upon their first anniversary already, wow, it feels like yesterday as well as a lifetime ago I was turning up cameras in hand ready to see what lay ahead.

So, back to how I choose these photos. I think there are around 220 in there, (sorry), I think my first cut was 595, so give me some credit, I have had to be ruthless! I am aware that a confetti shot is normally a beautiful, fun, pretty image. So yes there are a few in there, some more amusing and some just downright colourful. I do love my couples portraits, but again, they are predominantly taken for the couple. What I love showing the most, is the fun. The sweet moments, the one-offs, something different and something interesting. So that’s how I have compiled this post. I think it’s the best way to represent who I am and what I love to capture!

Lastly (if you’ve bothered reading this!), a massive thank you must go to everyone who makes this profession so incredible. Some amazing supplier friends who I get to work with year on year (too many to mention!), my lovely husband for putting up with his missing wife for months on end and of course, you guys. The gorgeous, fun-loving, brilliant couples who make my week every week. I am so grateful for your trust and kindness. My couples are so sweet at taking care of me, and not to mention sending so many heartfelt thank you cards and gifts. It is never expected, but always SO gratefully received.
