Relaxed Farm Wedding in Wales
I have a bit of a thing for ‘homespun’ weddings. I’m very lucky that I shoot so many of them as they are so personal and relaxed and I always leave feeling part of the family. Pippi and Mark’s beautiful wedding just outside Cardiff in Wales was no exception. It was another gorgeous sunny Saturday in August, and the happy smiles were out in force. I walked into their incredible home situated on Pippi’s parents’ farm and I knew it was going to be a special one indeed. Everyone was mucking in, cooking bits, preparing salads, not forgetting to mention Mark’s incredible illustrations which adorned the wedding so beautifully (check his work out, it’s amazing!) Of course being an animal lover I was pretty excited to hear we might go off to visit their pet chickens and ducks later on in the day. The family dog also wore the most adorable Paisley print bow-tie so of course he had to feature as my opening image :)
The couple were married in a beautifully quaint church down the road, and showered with ALL of the confetti upon their exit, easily one of my favourite confetti runs to photograph! They then headed back along with their guests to the gardens of the farm to enjoy their reception drinks and snacks. They had the most incredible hog roast, which even though I’m a little squeamish at times, was quite an impressive sight to see carved up ready for the wedding breakfast! I managed to get hit in the face square on with a green space-hopper (not something that happens every day) but thankfully since I’m a professional I took the shot before I winced in pain, and it turned out to be one of my favourite frames from last year :) There were SO many laughs during the speeches (and some rather wonderful videos too) that I don’t think I stopped smiling the entire time I was shooting. We hopped into the fields just before sunset and the first dance to grab some photos of Pippi and Mark, and they totally smashed their session :) I have to comment that I’ve never had the experience of posing my couples in front of giant hay bale effigies of a bride and groom before, and it was awesome! An incredible thing to witness, and an awesome shot for them to remember in years to come!
I had SUCH a wonderful time with these two and their absolutely terrific families, I really didn’t want to leave and I will always remember their wedding as one of my favourites for life. If you’re planning something similar, do give me a shout, I love, love LOVE weddings held at home :) Please have a nosey at my favourites below! xxx
