July Rainy Wedding at Canford School, Dorset
The last two days have felt like Spring (at last…it is April for goodness sake!) so of course I felt the need to share one of my rainiest weddings to date! Carita and David’s incredible day at Canford School in Dorset. It was July. It poured. ALL DAY. I really felt for them as I made my way across the country and I prayed it would cheer up, but little did I know that the venue I was about to be greeted by was so utterly beautiful inside, that it didn’t matter one jot that it was wetter than the sea outside. WHAT A PLACE!
Firstly I have to remark on how utterly gorgeous the beautiful and smiley Carita looked. Her dress fitted her to perfection, and I was equally blown away by how super smart David looked in all his Army regalia. I absolutely LOVE a Military wedding, who knew the ushers could be so blooming helpful!? ;) Well they were, a seriously top group of boys to help David and thoroughly great company to have around. And let’s not forget Carita’s girls! Truly lovely, caring and thoughtful bridesmaids, who looked stunning as well in their cute white dresses!
So we headed, in the rain, to the beautiful Canford Magna Parish Church, situated on the school site. It was a beautiful ceremony, filled with lovely Harp music played by their friend and plenty of those precious looks that I so love to capture. Of course it was still raining as they exited the church but that didn’t stop the almost hundred strong group of guests lining up for the confetti shot, nor did it prevent the magnificent Guard of Honour (sword and brolly arch!) by David’s colleagues. What I was not quite prepared for, was the next moment…two very prettily tressed wheelbarrows to escort the newlyweds to their reception at the main part of the school. What followed was possibly a moment I will never forget, when 6ft 7” (I think!) David attempted to sit down, he in fact bent the axle and effectively toppled straight out, much to mine, Carita’s and everyone’s delight. I pretty much nearly wet myself at this moment! Not remotely worried, David sallied forth pushing his new wife instead. Absolutely one of my favourite moments of 2017.
The speeches were hilarious as per, with some rather interesting photographs being shown around the room (!) and ended with a surprise from Carita to David, a brilliant Mariachi band who led everyone into the bar for the dance floor to take shape. Cue a music lovers dream, a 24 piece band!! They only went and played a well known Beauty and the Beast number for what was probably the finest first dance I’ve ever seen! There are definitely some perks to having such a great height, David lifted Carita with ease and it was an absolutely incredible way to begin the dancing. I left their day grinning from ear to ear that two people really do *make* a wedding. It doesn’t matter if it rains, it doesn’t matter if everything doesn’t go to plan, what matters is two people marrying each other and realising just how brilliant life is going to be. I am uber thrilled to be returning to Canford School for another wedding next Summer! Carita and David, you two were wonderful. I adored you both and I really hope we keep in touch. Thank you for having me…and here are some of my favourites from your very special day!! xxx
