My Favourites of 2017 Wedding Photography

Phew, here goes nothing. So it’s the 1st of February and I know January is a month most of us like to see the back of, so I thought what better way to begin (with what also looks like sunshine, yay!) than to share my favourites from 2017. Looking back at the year, it’s tempting to choose your ‘best’ images, or the ‘hero’ shots, but I’ve always strived to pick images that made my heart sing, or brought me right back to the moment, than what others may perceive to be my best work. Wedding photography is a huge deal, it’s come such a long way from twenty odd 6×4″ prints in an album of mostly group photos and a few posed couples portraits. It’s become the way to document one of life’s most incredible feelings, joining up with the person you’ve chosen to spend the rest of your days with. And there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think, oh my word, how lucky am I?

I spent 30 long days with 30 wonderful couples, their brilliant friends, and their amazing families. I was pooped on by a goose, I fell off a dock getting onto a boat, I was chased by a mad pheasant losing my (very sweaty) shoes and had to ask the barman to go and retrieve them, I was kissed, I was hugged, I was cried over, I held hands, I ran to the car for emergency lip balm, I ate more Mini Babybels than ever before, I applied blusher mid-speeches, I fetched countless glasses of fizz, I carried enormous bouquets, I bribed small children into group photos, I was elbowed in the face on the dance-floor and trodden on more times than I care to remember, I found confetti in all of the places, I shot two same sex weddings which I cried (happy tears) at more than I’d like to admit, I ate incredible food, I had a bit too much at one wedding and had to get a taxi home after my hours shooting were up just so I could join the party, and I made some incredible connections. All of the above I have loved. On top of that I got to photograph and deliver 30 couples with photos they’ve told me they’ll treasure forever. I won’t even go into the ridiculous amount of cards and presents I’m given, the job is a gift in itself. It really is, and I don’t care how mushy all of this sounds, it’s all a hundred per cent true.

My couples are just incredible.

I will NEVER get tired of feeling excited before the day begins. It’s the best experience witnessing people marry and I am beyond excited to do it all again this year. Thank you, THANK YOU to all of the people who feature in this post, I have included images from all of my weddings, and I will treasure these moments just as much as the families in them hopefully do. 2017, you were one hell of a year for me, personally as well as professionally. I got through some difficult health woes, I made some wonderful friends, I watched my niece blossom into the sweetest two year old you’ve ever seen, I met the love of my life and 2018 has been looking so bright ever since it began. Thank you to my family, my best friends, and to my boyfriend, for being all I’ve ever needed.
