East Quay Venue Wedding – Whitstable
‘Thanks very much Sophie they look wonderful! It was a lovely day and you did an amazing job helping it being really relaxed and we really enjoyed our portrait bit especially the sunset.’
When you receive an email from one of twelve (yes, twelve!) ushers from a previous wedding asking you to photograph his wedding to his beautiful fiancé it does feel kind of special. I’m very lucky in that as the years go by I am asked to shoot more friends of my previous couples and not only is it super flattering, it means I’m very likely to see them again which is just the BEST. In this case, it was the awesome Sarah and Grant’s wedding at Painshill where I first met Benj. When he told me that his wedding to lovely May was to be at East Quay Venue in Whitstable I was SO excited. I have ALWAYS wanted to shoot there and it really is the most magical venue. I am a great lover of the sea and cosy candlelit spaces, and this place truly has it all. I am now very proud to be on their supplier list, such wonderful staff and food is just beyond ridiculous. SO good.
Anyway, back to these two. Well, for October they were blessed with absolutely incredible light, it was warm (even the sea wasn’t too bad, apparently, not that I made Benj roll up his new posh suit trousers and head into the sea with May or anything…! Ahem, sorry again Benj!) and the sunset we were handed was just glorious. All the tears were shed during May’s preparations (mostly by me, as per) and I don’t think I will ever meet a sweeter page boy than theirs, in a mini kilt!! I nearly died of all the cuteness. They had a beautiful and emotional ceremony and one of the longest and most energetic confetti throws I’ve ever photographed.
The evening was filled with laughter, impromptu bagpipe serenaded dances, local pale ale and some serious shapes being cut on the dance floor. I will always remember this wedding. I loved catching up with Sarah and Grant and at least five of the original ushers from their wedding, I was welcomed by every single person in attendance and I took one of my favourite ever images, May and Benj watching the sun go down on what had been an absolutely wonderful and special day. Here are my favourites, a slightly longer post, so grab a cuppa! X
