Prepare yourself, this blog post contains beautiful Winter light, a tearful groom, the most ridiculously stunning bride and an awful lot of pretty. Are you ready for it?!

Dearest Caitlin and Matthew, their Summer wedding (scheduled for this year) was brought forward last minute due to work commitments and I must say photographing a wedding two days before Christmas was probably the most special feeling ever. I LOVE Christmas trees in wedding venues!! It helps that I love Christmas anyway, but coupled with that spirit of family coming together and that crisp low Winter sunshine AND emotional wedding loveliness, well it turned out to be one of my absolute favourites of 2015 and I’m so pleased to be sharing it just ahead of their first anniversary this year.

Caitlin was flanked by an army of awesome bridesmaids who were a total joy to work with, and Matthew’s Army crew were some of best people to have around to help me. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Military weddings are such an honour to photograph and I feel very lucky to do so many each year. I was kindly recommended to Matthew by the lovely Jim and Caroline who’s beautiful wedding I shot in Summer 2014, and I was so pleased I was still free to shoot their date when Caitlin called to say it had changed. I got to work alongside the lovely Sharon Roberts who has recently just won The Wedding Industry Awards 2017 for best hair-stylist in London and the South East – no mean feat! I love working with Sharon and will always recommend her – do check her work out, she’s incredible!

Back to the couple however, they were married at Our Lady of Lourdes church in Haslemere, a church with the prettiest light then had a short trip to the gorgeous Lythe Hill Hotel for their reception. We ventured into the grounds for their couple’s session, and for a mostly warm and very wet December, we were blessed with the only day of sunshine the entire month, and these two wholly deserved it. The whole day was filled with emotion, lots and lots of tears (thanks Matthew you managed to make me cry nearly the entire day!), so much laughter and a ridiculous amount of love. I also took away a new photography friend in Nicole, one of Caitlin’s bridesmaids who I happily recommend clients to when I’m already booked. This is a joyous career for sure, and I know I say it often, but I am so lucky to work with such wonderful, wonderful couples. Here’s to your first anniversary Caitlin and Matthew, may 2017 be your best year yet!
