My Favourites – 2016 Wedding Photography

Favourites of 2016

Woah. What a year. This was so incredibly tough, I apologise, there are 230 images in this post and having searched through 22,500, I just couldn’t cut it down any further. I wanted to include images from each of my twenty nine weddings (one was moved last minute to 2017!) and I also wanted to include my favourites. So I have called this post a ‘favourites’ rather than a ‘best of’, because quite frankly who’s to say what’s best? Art is subjective, and opinions change. I can only choose images which I feel define me as a person, what I look for during a wedding day, and the ones that of course, give me all the feels. If you’re new here you might realise by the end of this post that my absolute goal is to remind you how you felt on your wedding day. It’s SO important to me. I am not the most creative of souls, I don’t turn up at weddings with a shot in my head that I must get. I go with the flow, I see what my couples are feeling like, some are nervous, some are acing it from the word go, but mostly, they’re just in love and want to cling onto every second of the day and all the moments that unfold. Yes I love pretty light, yes having studied History of Art I look for the painterly in my subjects, but in truth, all I care about is are my couples having a ruddy great time.

2016 was possibly my favourite year in business despite it having highs and lows. I almost fully booked out 2017 (I have 6 dates remaining for this year), I made some incredible industry friends, namely florists who I’ve enjoyed working alongside, and also shooting! I experienced some great sadness with hearing of loss, and it made me realise just how incredibly important this job is. It always has been but when I am made aware that photos I take become absolutely treasured memories of people it does remind me of how very fortunate I am to undertake such an important role in weddings. I am so, so blessed to be given the chance to capture such fun, love, laughter and of course all those tears, that I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you. Thank you to all my wonderful, wonderful couples from 2016. Thank you for choosing me, for going with it, for listening to my sometimes daft suggestions, for trusting me, for all my amazing feedback and cards and gifts, and for inviting me to spend the day with you. YOU are what make me get out of bed everyday. YOU are what makes me excited to work. Not many people can say that about their jobs.
